iPhone 12 Pro Could Shoot 4K Video at 120 FPS and 240 FPS

Smartphone leaker Mac Weinbach has claimed that the two iPhone 12 Pro models may feature the capability to shoot 4K video at 120 fps and 240 fps.

On his YouTube channel EverythingApplePro, serial leaker Weinbach has made some new claims about the video shooting capabilities of the upcoming iPhone Pro models, including iPhone Pro and iPhone Pro Max. According to Weinbach, two of the high-end iPhone 12’s will support a new mode that features 4K video at 120 or 240 frames per second. The leaker uncovered this information when he found some references after tearing down the camera app in iOS 14 beta devKit.

The 4K shooting mode might be attributed to the new A14 Bionic chip that iPhone 12  comes with. The current iPhone 11 is limited to 4K video with 30 to 60 frames per second. Meanwhile, 240FPS is only available with the lower 1080 p resolution for shooting in slo-mo. iPhone 11’s front cameras are also currently capable of shooting 4K video at 60 FPS, more popularly knows as ‘slofies’.

If the leak turns out to be accurate, the new iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max will allow users to shoot slow-motion videos at a much higher resolution of 4K while maintaining the 120 and 240 framerates. This means you no longer have to shoot on 1080p while making slo-mos in your iPhone 12 Pro. The new models will give you the opportunity to create fantastic looking slo-mo videos at a resolution that will be four times better.

According to confirmation provided by Weinbach’s sources in Apple, the new camera modes are currently being tested by Apple and will most likely be reserved for the Pro models, which come at a higher price point.

However, these are not the only camera-related rumors going around about upcoming iPhones. There is speculation that the latest models might feature a 3D camera. The 3D camera sounds somewhat similar to the LiDAR scanner feature Apple released in the 2020 iPad Pro.

In his video, Weinbach goes on to mention other exciting findings regarding the new Series 7 Apple Watch, AirPods 3, and much more.

Conclusion

Four iPhone 12 models are currently in the works and scheduled to release later this year if all goes according to schedule for Apple. According to the specs and information published, these models will feature OLED displays of 3 different sizes: one 5.4 inch model, two 6.1 inch models, and one with a display of 6.7-inch. Another attractive addition is the 5G capability that will be supported by all four models. The models are designed with a flat-edged metal frame resembling iPhone 4 for a much more sleek and thin build. This new information regarding iPhone 12 Pro’s impressive camera capabilities is a promising addition to the already impressive list of rumored specifications – making iPhone 12 one of the most anticipated smartphones of the year.
