The Auto-Switching feature will allow AirPods to switch between devices automatically. What this means is that if you’re listening to music on your iMac and receive a call on your iPhone, the AirPods will automatically switch through devices and connect to your request. What’s even cooler is that when you’re done with the call, these earbuds should switch back to your computer.
Apart from that, it is also worth noting that this new feature will soon be available on AirPods Pro, AirPods (second generation), Powerbeats, Powerbeats Pro, and Beats Solo Pro.
As for the “Spatial Audio” feature, AirPods users will be able to enjoy a 3D surround sound audio experience such that it will almost feel like you’re in a movie theatre. With that being said, users won’t have to manually enable this feature since it will be activated automatically when you watch a video with Dolby 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound audio tracks. On the downside, only AirPods Pro users will be getting their hands on the “Spatial Audio” feature.
In addition to these two features, iOS 14 is also going to allow two different AirPods to share the audio output from the same Apple TV device. Because of this move, it will become much easier for a pair of friends to watch something together on TV. Plus, there’s another feature coming that notifies users if their AirPods are running out of battery, and you need to charge them.
Conclusion
Even though it is inevitable that these features will soon be rolling out to the devices mentioned above, the exact time and date of the said update is still unknown.
