Pokémon Releases New Cross-Platform MOBA For Switch And Mobile

The Pokémon Company announced its new MOBA-style title, Pokémon Unite, in the latest Pokémon Presents livestream. According to the announcement, The Pokémon Company’s new game Pokémon Unite is a multiplayer online battle arena made in collaboration with Tencent – creators of famous mobile MOBA Honor of Kings and Timi Studios, the creators of wildly popular games Call of Duty Mobile and Arena of Valor.

logoThe gameplay features five on five matches that occur on a symmetrical MOBA-style map for each team. Players can run around the map and catch Pokémon by standing on the capture points while defeating enemies in real-time battles using their Pokémon moves. The Pokémon can learn new moves as you progress through the battles and level up.

Apart from the detailed announcement, the livestream audience were entertained with an action-packed debut match between two five-player teams. Players competed over control points to score goals while showcasing the various game mechanics of the promising new MOBA.

The livestream also showed off a select screen with the various choices of Pokémon players could play as and boasted a wide range of popular Pokémon on the list. Players have a choice between multiple Pokémon, such as Pikachu, Snorlax, Machamp, Charizard, and more, with different combat skills and a unique Unite move. Pokémon can also start as unevolved versions and ultimately evolve to their final versions as the match progresses. Winners will be decided upon which side scores the most points with the winner scoring the highest points.
